Volkswagen Mexico just came up with an ingenious solution in order to celebrate the child inside each of us. Based on the saying that the only difference between boys and men is the size of their toys, the German manufacturer just released a special edition VW Beetle for the South American market, called Beetle HotWheels.
The moment for this special release was not chosen randomly, as the new edition comes as a celebration for 40 years of HotWheels and 10 years from the launch of the New Beetle. The models of the HotWheels edition are specially personalized for the event, with an engraved logo on the front headrests along with a special number plate. Other exclusive features include two-tone leather seats with red stitching, matching floor mats and aluminum footrest and pedals, similar to those on the first generation Audi TT.
On the outside, the limited Beetle stands out thanks to 17 inch alloy wheels painted in Hot Wheels style, red side mirrors, a rear spoiler and special decals on the side. All 240 units of this limited edition will be equipped with the 5 cylinder, 2.5 liter , 150 horsepower engine, mated either to a five-speed manual or to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Exterior paint choice is limited to three colors : azul laser ( blue, 94 units), rojo salsa( red, 73 units) and nero onix( black, 73 units).
Also as a celebration for HotWheels, the toy manufacturer Mattel is also presenting an exclusive edition of toys, under the shape of 1.64 scale models of the VW Beetle.
Prices in Mexico for the Beetle HotWheels start at 239,000 pesos for the five speed manual and go up to 257,971 pesos for the automatic.
