A Baby Girl Named Kia...

A couple from Poole, UK, have named their newborn baby girl after the unusual place where she was born: a Kia Carens. The car belonged to the baby’s grandmother, who rushed to give her daughter a ride to the hospital. However, little Kia Richardson was born in the vehicle just before her parents arrived at Poole Hospital.

Samantha Smyth, 23, and Tony Richardson, 24, were going to call her Tilley but changed their mind after the baby was born. The decision paid off, as Kia Motors UK decided to give the young parents a 2009 top-of-the-range seven-seat Kia Carens, valued at £17,995.

Moreover, the guys at Kia also thought of helping them keep the car clean, since we all know that ‘smelly accidents’ do happen with little ones. Therefore, the Richardsons also received two sets of waterproof seat covers and two car-car bags.

“I’m just so chuffed. I can’t believe it. At the moment we only have a four seat car so this will mean we can get the family about in comfort. Thank you to Kia for arriving and to Kia for the car!” Kia’s mother, Sam, said in a release.

"All of us at Kia are delighted for Tony and Sam and flattered that they have called their new baby Kia after she was born in Grannie’s Carens. We know how good the Carens is for families – especially growing ones - so we thought we should help them out by giving them a Carens of their own! We would like to welcome Kia to the Kia family and wish her a wonderful life,” Michael Cole, Kia Motors UK commented on the event.
