Apart from being the fastest Mercedes-Benz A-Class in history and the hottest of the hot hatches, the bonkers A 45 AMG has more than a couple of aces up its sleeve, with one of the most important ones being the fact that it appears to have plenty of power and performance reserves for skilled tuners out there.
For example, when Brabus first announced their plug-and-play ECU tuning package for the A 45 back in January – somewhat later than other tuners – it became apparent that Mercedes-Benz could have easily squeezed that power from the otherwise stock car without beefing up any engine internals.

In other words, the 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque that the soon-to-be-legendary M133 four-pot engine delivers are not as impressive as a first glance would tell you.

We say this not only because Brabus' B45 PowerXtra plug-and-play ECU tune gives it no less than 400 hp and 500 Nm (369 lb ft) of torque, but mainly because the Bottrop engineers manage to achieve these figures while also offering a warranty.

The neck-snapping 4.6 seconds from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) achieved by a stock Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG transform into just 4.2 seconds just by fitting it with the Brabus PowerXtra B45 ECU kit.

The grim-looking A 45 AMG in the adjacent image gallery is equipped with both the tuning package and some exterior mods branded with the “B” logo, making for a car that should look pretty scary in your rear view mirror just before it passes you and vanishes into the darkness in a time span of a few seconds.
