Since it was launched, the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG has been heralded as the current number one hot hatch on the planet, whether we’re talking about acceleration figures, hp per liter or total engine power.
With no less than 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque squeezed out of the tiny M133 engine, the A 45 AMG has the most powerful four-cylinder engine of any production car in the world.
The BMW M135i in xDrive and five-door clothing is currently its closest competitor, despite not being quite on the same page when it comes to engine power or official performance figures.
With a turbocharged three-liter inline six instead of a “puny” four-cylinder in the A 45 AMG, the M135i develops 320 hp and the same amount of torque as the AMG.
In xDrive and five-door guise the official acceleration numbers are a tad higher than in the AMG, but if you ever thought how those numbers translate in real life then the following video is for you.
