A 1957 Chevy Wagon Rat Rod Like You’ll Never See Again

What happens when you take a hot rodding icon and turn it into a rat rod? You end up with the coolest junkyard ride in the country and deserve to break the internet without a huge butt... although this ride has quite a nice one.

What you’re looking at here at is a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, at least what’s left of it, which got successfully transformed into the coolest rat rod of the year. And it’s not just us calling it that way, as the thing here is the 2013 Rat Rod Build Off winner alongside many other awards.

The wagon is heavily chopped and rides on a custom frame being powered by a 355 Yeoman Racing small block that sounds absolutely delicious. In true rat rodding style, the only glass left on the car is the windshield while the rest of the car body has no shiny parts at all. The paint is frosted and rust marks can be seen in key areas, turning up the cool factor to 11.

Unlike other cars in the rust reign, this one still has its own dashboard with all the gauges and some of the switches, although the whole thing looks to have been fished from the bottom of the lake. The only new piece here is a four spoke steering wheel. There’s room for a passenger who can see the asphalt through a big gap, but that can’t be a lady for sure, because there’s only one way to get inside - through the roof, since the doors have been welded shut.
