A 1930 Henderson-Inspired Honda Shadow to Leave You Speechless

Certain retro motorcycles have that je ne sais quoi that makes them truly spectacular and capable of setting imagination wild even almost a century after they were made.

The Henderson KJ Streamliner is such a machine that looks just as fresh as it used to 85 years ago. The early streamliner designs have set in motion an entire movement and laid the foundation of high-efficiency aerodynamics. They are still inspiring builders and here is one of the latest builds that pay tribute to the vintage Hendersons.

This machine was manufactured in Vietnam, but the info on it is nowhere to be found, save from few people who are well-acquainted with the local scene.

Modern feat cleverly disguised in a retro build

It looks like the builder designed and manufactured a complete outer body kit that mimics the shapes, volumes and looks of the 1930 KJ Streamliner. Still, this very capable builder was not shy to add modern touches that successfully remain covert until used.

For now, it is impossible to say whether the ample - for lack of a better term - fender covers are actuated by a hydraulic system or electric motors. However, they move smoothly and look neatly integrated with the overall picture when closed.

The most surprising element introduced in the build is the air-ride suspension, which allows the bike to maintain a very low profile when parked. We love the tone of the bespoke exhausts and dare say it sounds better than most other similar bikes, despite the moderate displacement of the Shadow engine.

This Vietnamese Henderson lookalike is not a 100% accurate replica, and this makes us enjoy it even more, most likely because the choices its owner made are perfectly integrated with the bike. Not sure how the Shadow engine will feel riding in stop and go traffic with all the aero bodywork, but once you're free from the clutter, riding this bike must be a wonderful experience.
