When we heard about a Dodge Charger Hellcat descending into the 9s quarter mile area, we were mildly impressed (this kind of records can easily fall overnight). Nevertheless, upon hearing a rumor about the woman behind the wheel having brought her daughter to the drag strip, we felt like we had to share the story with you.
In her 50s, Linda is the kind of driver who knows a thing or two about the drag strip routine. The rumor mill talks about the younger woman in the clip being her daughter, but we only have details of the car.
The 6.2-liter V8 was gifted with a Metco upper pulley and an ATI lower pulley, allowing the factory blower to deliver 18 psi of boost. The catalytic converters are gone, while the ECU has been obviously remapped, with the Mopar machine running on race gas.
Further down the power line, we find a custom driveshaft, while the rear end now has a 3.09 ratio. And yes, the thing uses drag radials.
As a result of the upgrades mentioned above, the Charger now delivers 902 hp and a peak torque of 866 lb-ft (that’s 1,174 Nm for all you reading this across the pond).
As we mentioned in the intro, the 4,575 lb (2,075 kg) sedan managed to put its muscle to good use. The car managed to record a 9.710s pass at 140.39 mph (226 km/h).
Not only does this make for the fastest Charger Hellcat but it also places the sedan just 0.1s behind the current overall Hellcat record, held by a Challenger.
For the sake of comparison, we’ll mention the standard incarnations of the Hellcat brothers are 0.2 seconds away from each other, with the Challenger leading at 10.8 seconds (on drag radials).
