992 Porsche 911 Turbo Customer Deliveries Reportedly Confirmed for April 2020

With 992 Porsche 911 Turbo test cars having been spotted for quite a while now, it looks like the first garages/driveways will be adorned in April 2020 - the information is nothing more than social media gossip at the moment, but it doesn't seem to involve the 1st of the month. In fact, this seems to fall in line with the expected debut of the new Turbo, which will take place by the end of the year.

The story kicked off with an Instagram post showcasing a prototype of the 992 Neunelfer GT3 at work on the Nurburgring. However, one of the gear heads in the comments section pointed out the detail mentioned above: "Not officially, but, Porsche has confirmed it to some customers that they are getting it [992 Turbo] in April next year," - you can check out the post at the bottom of the page.

Now, while the said post comes from a Porschephile that often delivers relevant content, we can't be sure about the Instagrammer delivering the punch line here, since he sits behind a private account.

Then again, with a leaked photo having showcased the 992 Turbo Coupe earlier this year, it shouldn't take that long until the machine goes official.

As usual, Zuffenhausen is a master of hiding the details right under our (slant) noses. So while the appearance of the new Turbo is no secret, we can't say the same about its tech side.

So far, we can be certain of three things: the wider tracks brought by the generation change and a specific calibration for the new eight-speed PDK. Of course, active aero will once again allow the 911 Turbo to come with a heftier ground clearance than that of the typical supercar, thus boosting the practicality aura of the German.

Sure, the posterior of the supercar will be occupied by a twin-turbo flat-six, but will Porsche retired the 3.8-liter boxer of the current car in the race for superior efficiency? The German are certainly no strangers to such moves. For instance, while the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport racecar uses an updated version of its predecessor's N/A 3.8-liter unit (borrowed from the 991.1 Carrera S), the 718 GT4 street car packs an all-new atmospheric 4.0-liter flat-six based on the twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine of the 992 Carrera S.

The Ring time of the newcomer? We'll most likely get to see it entering the Sub-7 Club, as is the case with the 992 GT3, which should land next year.
