992 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package Spotted on Nurburgring, Looks Clean

Porschephiles (along with plenty of other aficionados) can breathe freely, just like a naturally aspirated motor, when it comes to the 992 911 GT3, as the news about the upcoming derivative is loaded with reasons to jump for joy.

In a nutshell, the N/A flat-six is here to stay and so is the optional manual transmission (more on this below), while it seems like Zuffenhausen is determined to once again offer the Touring Package.

In fact, it looks like the TP will come from the get-go this time around - we had to wait for the ".2" facelift of the 991.2 for Porsche to pull this rabbit out of the hat (the aim was to keep the 911 R speculation market under control).

At least that's what we can expect after seeing the new GT3 Touring testing on multiple occasions, with the most being showcased in the video at the bottom of the page.

The clip involves a pair of prototypes and, as least as the first is concerned, this shows plenty of GT3 TP signs, from the center exhaust to the lack of a fixed wing. And while the Gurney flat on top of the Carrera active wing doesn't appear to be here, this might arrive later on.

There haven't been any clues on Porsche offering the Touring Package with the optional PDK, so this will presumably maintain the clutch-only recipe of its predecessor (don't worry, you'll get an aggressive setup for the new 8-speed PDK on the "standard" GT3).

As far as motivation goes, we have to look at the new 4.0-liter boxer developed for the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder. Loosely based on the TT 3.0-liter engine of the 992 Carrera (S), the unit makes 420 hp for the mid-engined toys, but, if this will be upgraded for the GT3s, expect its muscle figure to jump to around 550 hp.

The 992 Porsche 911 GT3 is expected to debut next year, as a 2021 model and, hopefully, the Touring Package option will be in the configurator.
