985 HP Mansory Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe Diamond Edition Sounds Like a Demon

While Mansory’s 985 HP interpretation of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is not a new development, having already been released on the market, seeing this brutish machine at work inside the city is something else.

Sometimes, people over in Affalterbach like to exaggerate things and this is how we end up with vehicles such as their massaged two-door S-Class. The performance is beyond what you’d expect from a German GT and so is the price.

In this respect, aftermarket developer Mansory likes to take that exaggeration and make it seem like the most restrained of approaches. At least that’s how the standard S63 AMG Coupe might appear when compared to the tuner’s version, which goes by the name of Diamond Edition.

The footage below allows us to see the “day night in the life of” moment. For instance, you can compare the attention this pumped-up AMG receives compared to a Lamborghini Aventador that has also received custom work.

As for the power kit itself, friends call it the M1000. The list of parts that have been upgraded or replaced includes the twin turbines, the connecting rods, bearings, as well as the crankshaft.

Scrap that. The list is, in fact, much longer, but Mansory wants to make a point here. While not being all that far from doubling the power, when it comes to the torque, this AMG is even more of a predator.

The twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 heart of the car has been dialed all the way up to a jaw-dropping 1,400 Nm (1,032 lb-ft). And keep in mind this value is electronically limited so that the engine doesn’t devour the transmission.

Check out the official performance figures, namely a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint of 3.2 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) and you’ll still get an incomplete picture. As much as we dislike Mansory’s visual work on the car (as with most of their kits), we can’t remain untouched by the output leap.
