950 HP Nissan GT-R VS. McLaren 650S Drag Race Is Random

Some people just like to perform random actions. You know, stuff like getting the wheels off their car and putting them back out of a sudden. Or perhaps drag race a Nissan GT-R turned all the way up to 950 hp against a McLaren 650S. Then again, with the tuned-Godzilla-vs-Euro-supercars theme having already become mainstream, such adventures shouldn’t raise our eyebrows.

So, without further ado, allow us to introduce the competitors. In the Papaya Orange corner, we have McLaren’s bread and butter supersports series model, the 650S. For the record, the British supercar can play the quarter mile game in 10.5 seconds.

In the Tuned White corner sits the 2013 Nissan GT-R pumped-up by AMS Performance, the tuner who currently fights for the GT-R quarter mile world record with its 2,000 hp plus Alpha Omega machine.

The Nissan we see here is an Alpha 9, which delivers 950 hp on pump gas and 1,050 ponies on race gas. Unlike the Alpha Omega, the goal here was not sheer power, but drivability. Nevertheless, this is the kind of Godzilla flavor that will complete the quarter mile in about nine seconds. It's one thing to do the math though and another thing to see the pair battling it out in the real world.

The two are being thrown at each other in a trap speed race and the video below offers us a pretty good view on the matter. As we said, it’s all a piece of randomness, and yet we can’t complain all that much when gas is being burned for racing purposes.
