911 Calls Indicate Kevin Hart May Have Been Driving When He Crashed

In the early hours of Sunday, Kevin Hart was involved in a serious accident on the iconic Mulholland Highway in California, when his car careened off the road, went through a fence and down an embankment.

The car in question was a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, which Hart had bought for himself as a birthday present upon turning 40. With all that, the story told to the California Highway Patrol is that he wasn’t driving it: Jared Black was. Rebecca Broxterman, a personal trainer to Hart’s fiance, was also in the car.

All 3 people in the car received considerable injuries, but Hart didn’t even wait for paramedics to arrive at the scene. Right after the crash, a black Escalade pulled up, a security got out, retrieved Hart from inside the wreck and drove him home.

TMZ has obtained both 911 calls placed after the accident: one by an eyewitness at the scene and one from a woman calling from inside Hart’s house. Both include inconsistencies that hint Hart may have been at the wheel and tried to cover it up.

First of all, the eyewitness told the police that he’d seen the driver being pulled out of the car. He was referring to Hart (and not Black), who was pulled out through the driver’s side window, the man explains for TMZ. He also saw Hart walk up the embankment with the bodyguard, get in the Escalade and drive off.

Secondly, the woman calling from Hart’s home says that the accident took place “some 20 minutes ago.” The call was placed at 2:13 a.m., about 1 hour and 30 minutes after the accident.

The female caller also says that Hart had hurt his back, “can’t move” and “is not coherent at all.” She says he didn’t receive any kind of medical assistance since walking away from the scene.

That said, celebrities occasionally do leave an accident site when no other vehicle is involved because of the insane amount of media attention events of this type get. However, if Hart was indeed driving and tried to cover it up, he may be facing charges since the two other passengers were also hurt.
