900 HP Viper on Nitrous Races Monster Twin-Turbo Porsche 911

Today we want the talk about a street race that shows what happens when people take the “no replacement for displacement” line too seriously. This is a battle between two supercars that find themselves at the opposite end of the cubic capacity scales.

When an 8.4-liter Viper goes up against a 3.8-liter Porsche, you know you’re in for a lesson in internal combustion engine malefic use.

In the Orange corner, we have a Viper whose V10 has received a massive nitrous shot. Taking a 250 sip, this Mopar machine allows the drivers to control 880 hp and 908 lb-ft (1,231 Nm) of twist. Keep in mind that we are talking about the output at the wheels here.

As you can imagine, such am output requires plenty of other mods and while the exhaust and the intake are on the house, this driver wanted to make sure his Viper stays on the road. As a result, the SRT machine rides on drag radials.

In the Black Corner sits a 997-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. This machine has long lost its factory state, with the packed engine compartment at the rear receiving even more attention that that of the Viper.

The main modification consists of a pair of Precision turbochargers, as well as an E85 kit. And while the Viper has a stock motor, the engine of the Porsche has received new internals.

The race(s)

With both vehicles using manual transmissions, the battle is a close one and packed with the apparent slow-down moments we’ve come to associate with three-pedal setups. While we hope you people won’t race on the street, seeing these two manuals duking it out is sweet.

As for the less than perfect alignment of the cars, here’s what 1320video, which caught the whole thing on camera, had to say “We hear you, you have to remember a 250 shot is only good for 4-5 hits tops with two full bottles, so if you have more than one race lined up you can't waste it all on one car. Also, cars of this caliber aren't cheap to build, so most people don't want to race all day to get a clean run.
