90-Year-Old Is the Proud Owner of His Fourth Chevy Corvette, a Torch Red 2021 C8

This is probably not the first time you hear this, but automotive enthusiasm clearly knows no boundaries. We have seen kids love certain brands or models since infancy (proud father of eight- and five-year-old Mustang aficionados right here), and it’s no surprise the affection for cars sometimes lasts... almost forever.

For one 90-year-old Florida veteran and outstanding car guy, the love recently manifested in the acquisition of a brand-new 2021 C8 Chevrolet Corvette in Torch Red. By the looks of it, this color might proudly go on top of the acquisition list once more, even when faced with new competition from the likes of the Silver Flare and Red Mist hues.

This is a clear example of automotive passion that can be used as inspiration at any age. Chuck Cook is a Leesburg, Florida veteran (more on his outstanding service in a moment) who just celebrated his 90th birthday in great DIY fashion.

This is my birthday present to myself,” Cook said to local Florida newspaper Daily Commercial. “I’ve owned Corvettes since 1981 when I bought my first one. This makes my fourth one in my lifetime. I can’t wait... so I can get this to all the car shows.”

Clearly, a man who thinks the best things are all done by oneself, the Leesburg veteran decided to buy himself the 2021 Corvette. According to the local news outlet, the Chevy dealership he went to decided to make this a bit more special. By the way, he previously owned Corvettes from the 1981, 2001, and 2014 model years.

We all know that 2021 model year C8 ‘Vettes are still hard to come by, so no wonder the Cecil Clark Chevrolet dealership had to pass on a special order to the company. “This was the first 2021 Corvette to hit our lot,” commented a representative. “It was great being able to celebrate with him for his upcoming birthday and also have the first 2021 corvette to come here.”

Cook, who spent four years serving in the U.S. Air Force, has been stationed in Korea and worked on fighter jets – why are we not surprised to find out about this and his love for great sports cars? He then went on to work for Uniroyal and BF Goodrich. His other car? A 2018 Chevrolet Equinox serving as “grocery getter.”
