90-Year-Old Guy Rides Scooter on Motorway... by Mistake

Normally, an old guy driving a scooter at 8 mph on a highway is not an ordinary sight for any motorist. But since we're living in a world where everything seems to be possible, two days ago, drivers on A27 near West Sussex discovered they were sharing the road with a 90-year-old driving his mobility scooter on the hard shoulder of a dual motor way, the Sun reported.

Motorists were pretty amused by the unusual sight and called the cops to report their finding. Seeing that the old guy later identified as Stanley Murphy looked pretty scared, a paving company owner James Dunne pulled his truck over and began flashing lights trying to stop the scooter's driver.

“The old chap looked pretty confused and scared and looked like he was not going to stop. He started to try to overtake me but I got him to pull in. The police arrived a few minutes later," explained Dunne.

Finally, cops arrived at the scene and found out that Murphy was not on the highway to make some stunts rather that the 90-year-old pensioner took a wrong turn while trying to get back to his home in Shoreham, West Sussex after having bought a newspaper.

Afterwards, cops put the lost pensioner in their car and drove him back home, while Dunne carried the Atlas mobility scooter in the back of his truck.

“I went out to get a paper and took a wrong turning. I don’t know how I ended up on the A27 but I am thankful to everyone who helped me,” confessed the pensioner when he arrived at his home where he lives with his daughter.

After the incident, Murphy wanted to specially thank "the members of the public who stopped to help".
