90 HP Miata Terrorizes Ferrari 458 GT3 in Close Nurburgring Chase

The Nurburgring is the perfect scene for David vs. Goliath battles and the one we're here to showcase might just serve as the definition of such a fight. That's because we're talking about a Green Hell duel involving a Mazda Miata and a Ferrari 458.

The Prancing Horse we have here seems to be a 458 GT3, with the racecar incarnation of the Maranello toy making things even spicier. And while one doesn't bring a Fezza to the Ring to cruise, it's no difficult to understand why the driver might want to take things gradually.

As for the Mazda Miata, this is an NA (think: first-generation model), whose driver took to Facebook to confirm that the little toy has no more than 90 horses.

Then again, the aficionado also explained that all the other tech bits of the car are modified. We must also factor in his Nordschleife knowledge and the fact that underpowered machines are not too difficult to drive at the limit.

And we have to explain that the Miata we have here won't be left in 90 hp form forever. In fact, after checking out the owner's Facebook page, we found out that the Mazda is getting one hell of an engine upgrade.

To be more precise, the MX-5 is receiving a heart transplant, with the engine compartment set to be occupied by a Wankel engine. We're talking about a 13B motor and we've added a few images of the build above.

As you can see, this is still a work-in-progress project, but we're pretty sure that the driver of the Mazda will return to the Ring as soon as the project is completed.

And, with the extra muscle, this Miata should be able to give quite a few Ring tourists a hard time. Oh, and let's not forget about the voice of such a motor...
