844-HP McLaren 765LT Evolution Is a Wrap So Novitec Celebrates at 195 MPH

Cars with the “Longtail” branding have been a familiar sight for motorsport aficionados as far back as 24 Hours of Le Mans races from the 1960s. Basically, the longer rear end made the track-only monsters a bit faster on the very long Mulsanne straight, and famous examples include the Porsche 917 “longtail” or the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail.

The British automaker has been transferring the “LT” know-how to its street-legal supercars for a while now, and the latest version comes in the form of the 765LT, an even higher-performance version of the “icon-in-the-making” 720S.

Naturally, with such credentials at its disposal, the aftermarket sector hasn’t remained immune to the 765LT’s charms – and the latest example comes from Germany, courtesy of the Novitec Group. The tuning expert has taken the lightweight British two-seater and applied its own magic to bring the turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 to an even higher power standard of 629 kW (855 PS/ 844 hp).

At the higher end of the company’s three-different upgrade stages, the 765LT also makes do with 898 Nm (662 lb-ft) of twist, which is enough to propel it to 62 mph (100 kph) in a mere 2.5 seconds and to speeds in excess of 205 mph (330 kph).

Novitec just wrapped the complete development package for the McLaren 765LT and naturally decided to celebrate in a social media-intensive manner (video embedded below), alongside Supercar Diaries host Bijon de Kock. First up on the list is a quick presentation, from the 1:15 mark, but then Bijon quickly goes on to check out more interesting aspects.

After all, Novitec has the entire run-down of the upgrades already live in the car’s dedicated section, so we’re also more interested in finding little Easter eggs. For example, Bijon has decided to see how much louder is the new exhaust that was cooked up by the German tuning house. Jump to the 2:15 mark for that find, and then we can all proceed to the driving part (from 3:15).

With Bijon being an official ambassador for the brand, we’re not really surprised he’s mesmerized by the 765LT, but more importantly, he’s also up for some Autobahn shenanigans with this flame-spitting supercar.

Although he doesn’t really put the company’s claims about the top speed to the test, seeing the digital speedometer rise to 314 kph (195 mph) in between roaring sessions of back-road acceleration is mighty impressive indeed.
