Given it seems like it's almost always wet, it's a miracle there even is a drag racing scene in the United Kingdom, let alone people who invest large sums of money into making their cars even faster.
These two guys, Alex and Jack, have certainly poured some funds into their rides, which weren't particularly cheap to begin with. Granted, they weren't exactly slow either, so at least they had a really good starting point.
Jack, for instance, drives the almighty Nissan GT-R, except his Godzilla puts out 820 hp instead of the 562 hp the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine produces in its stock form. That's a pretty serious jump of nearly 260 hp, though we all know how relatively easy it is for these things to go well over the 1,000 hp mark.
To get there, Jack appears to have employed the help of the people from Litchfield Motors, who offer various stages of tune for the Japanese model. The list of modifications is vast, but the most important include a set of hybrid turbos, a Litchfield Super Stock Intercooler, Litchfield downpipes, and 1,100-cc injectors. The result, according to the owner, is an output of 820 hp with a total weight of 3,858 lbs (1,750 kg).
Over in the opposite corner is Alex, a father of four, which means his go-fast car had to offer plenty of room as well. It sounds like he could actually use a minivan, but for the time being, he has to make do with his F90 BMW M5.
In its stock form, the German sedan produces 600 hp out of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Through various mods - Stage 1 tune, aftermarket air filter, Akrapovic titanium exhaust - Alex managed to get that up to 790 hp, which is 30 hp less than the Nissan. To make matters worse, the Bimmer is also heavier at 4,111 lbs (1,865 kg).
As it turns out, its driver isn't helping either. You know it's not going to end well for him when you hear Alex, the M5 owner, sending out a prayer to the god of launch control before the start. Ironically enough, the BMW actually manages to inch forward off the line in the standing race, yet its time in the lead is brief as the Nissan powers past.
As it's usually the case with the battles staged by the Officially Gassed YouTube channel, you'll get to see four challenges in total - two where they compete individually, and two head-to-head duels. We already gave one of the latter away, so that leaves three more where the BMW could snatch a win. Check out the video to see whether that happens, or at least to chuckle at Alex's pessimism and comical negativity. He's definitely one of the most likable characters Jamie's had on his channel.
