Many of you know BJ Baldwin as the guy who jumped a trophy truck over a group of hotties in bikinis, back in the days of that Gymkhana-like video. Monster energy’s driver isn’t afraid to repeat such shenanigans, but since he had to come up with something new, he figured he might as well drift the truck all over Las Vegas.
BJ Baldwin’s Chevy-badged trophy truck is present at SEMA these days, but he decided to steal his own car for a spin around town. Taking things literally, BJ Baldwin went drifting through the streets, with ultra-tight parking lot sideways moments being on the house.
We’re not sure how drifting around car-filled streets was allowed, but you won’t hear us complaining. Heck, this is one of the coolest clips we’ve seen all year.
The Trophy Track was built to endure all sorts of torture without breaking a sweat. And this is what it does. However, the melange between the body roll of the offroad machine and the rather delicious slip angles make for one hell of a video, especially since we get a POV take on the matter.
It all feels like watching a boat race that somehow happens to take place on tarmac. Famous tarmac, that is.
When you have 800 hp at the mercy of your right foot and a Las Vegas around you, life is beautiful. In fact, it’s sweet enough to make you want to use that Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel to spin around a camera guy, generating some completely legit rubber crop circles in the process.
To be honest, SEMA can bring a weird sort of overload, with too many wings and flashy lights polluting the wonderful horsepower display. But with such extreme sideways stunts serving as refreshers, we can’t wait until next year’s edition of the event.
