800 HP Hennessey Mustang Shelby GT350 Hits Dyno, Supercharged Soundtrack Surreal

While the project is the kind that easily keeps muscle enthusiasts on their toes, tuners such as Hennessey Performance couldn't be happier with this window of opportunity. The Texan developer has released an upgrade program based on the most extreme 'Stang that the Blue Oval delivers, offering a two-stage scheme for the Shelby GT350.

The first version sees the 5.2-liter V8 keeping its natural aspiration but climbing from its factory output of 526 hp to 575 ponies. However, we're here to focus on the more muscular offering, which sees the hp number jumping to 800 hp.

Using the Lone Star State company's familiar nomenclature, the upgrade is dubbed HPE800 and sees the VooDoo heart of the pony being gifted with a blower. To be more specific, we're dealing with a 2.9-liter supercharger here.

The forced induction sees the compression ratio being lowered from 12:1 to 11:1, while a pack of other mods is ready to support the upgrade. The list includes forged aluminum pistons with steel wrist pins, forged steel connecting rods, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, as well as a carbon fiber air intake that also takes care of this upgrade's visual side - as with most HPE packages, this one can be called a sleeper, but once you pop the hood, the cover is blown, literally.

Hennessey has provided a dyno video below, showing the HPE 800 2016 Shelby GT350 at work. Aside from providing the real world numbers (read: rear wheel hp), the piece of footage also reveals the soundtrack of the machine, which is nothing short of surreal. And while the voice of the flat-plane crank V8 has obviously been modified, we don't think anybody will complain about it.
