Doing 80 mph (130 km/h) in the city is dumb, and it's dangerous, regardless of who's the guy, a motorcycle rider or a driver. In most of the countries, this is the upper speed limit on the highway, and in case you need someone to tell you why it is not wise, nor healthy in the urban environment, maybe you should turn in your driving permit.
We, motorcycle riders can accelerate much easier than cars, and this is one of the reasons why we constantly do several mph over the speed limit even in the city. However, the Kawasaki rider in the video below and "several mph" simply cannot be put in the same sentence.
It was the middle of the day on a busy boulevard with numerous intersections and frankly, ignoring the fact that other motorists might enter the main road only tells us that this guy is not too good at understanding traffic at all.
The white car drives normally and under normal circumstances, nothing would have happened. We saw countless accidents that occurred the same way, with a ride approaching at very high speed, catching other road users by surprise and crashing, often with tragic results.
It would be most interesting to find out what are such riders thinking about when they speed like this, almost with a deathwish, through the city or other busy areas. Can't they even guess or wonder that nobody could approximate the speed of the approaching motorcycle? Likewise, that there is almost nothing a rider, or for that matter, a driver can do to avoid the impact once the scenario gets past the "point of no return?"
We highlighted the moment when the rider realizes that things are not going at all well and brakes. Observe the distance to the car and then replay the video. You'll be amazed how fast everything rolls and how futile any maneuvers are from that point on.
Frankly, we're happy to see that the guy is not dead and buried. Hopefully, no one in the car was hurt, either, and maybe the fellow learned the lesson for good, and will tell the story to others, helping them avoid similar incidents.
