760 HP Mercedes-AMG GT R Hits Nurburgring, Does 7:04 Lap in Traffic

With Nurburgring lap times being more important than ever these days, it's no wonder that aftermarket developers are focusing on the infamous German track. And a recent example of this comes from Renntech, which has recently stormed the Green Hell using a prepped Mercedes-AMG GT R.

The developer caught the whole thing on camera, with the piece of footage at the bottom of the page showcasing the adventure.

The clip also involves the all-important chronograph numbers and we can see both the Bridge To Gantry time (this is the layout used for the Tourist Days events) and the full track figure.

The latter sits at 7:04 and there's one aspect that makes the time even more impressive - the Renntech GT R had to deal with traffic in its quest. And while the traffic was light, you can clearly spot a few occasions that cost the driver time during the hot lap.

Thanks to the camera mounted on the nose of the super, we get a truly dynamic perspective, with this appearing to come from a video game. Then again, this stunt is as real as they get.

Now, you might wonder about the exact details included in the tech massage of the supercar. Well, the aftermarket developer took the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 heart of the machine from its factory output of 585 all the way to 760 hp.

Renntech also introduced a stopping hardware upgrade, while the suspension was obviously touched. To be more precise, the machine now features Bilstein coilovers, with these having received a Nordschleife-friendly tune.

Oh, and let's not forget the driver mod - the one wielding the car is Andreas Simonsen, a Swedish racing driver who is engaged in the German GT championship.

As for the aural side of the experience, this is uber-exciting, so you'd better turn up the volume.
