720 HP BMW M6 Drag Races 700 HP E63 AMG 4Matic

We have all sorts of models meant to take on the competition’s, like Mercedes’ recently announced MLC or BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer, cars that have been brought to life inspired by the success of the first models in their respective niches.

The M5, for example, has been followed by Benz’s E63 AMG model for quite some time now. Eventually, the Stuttgart model became better than the Municher and today most people agree that the Affalterbach tuner’s version of the E-Class is the better choice in the super-sedan category.

In this regard, they even gave it all-wheel-drive and transformed a regular sedan into a beast that can do 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 3.7 seconds thanks to its 5.5-liter V8 engine making 557 HP and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque.

Its natural rival, the M5, uses a smaller 4.4-liter V8 engine that makes 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque but all of that is being sent to the rear wheels alone, through a 7-speed DCT gearbox or a manual 6-speed unit.

What we have racing in the video below though, is a completely different story. Sure, the M6 and M5 share the same engine and underpinnings but they are slightly different whatsoever.

Below we have an F13 M6 coupe racing an E63 AMG 4Matic model, the M6 having the same engine as an M5. However, they both have been tuned to make more power. Considerably more power.

The M6 now makes between 720 and 740 HP according to the video description, thanks to a PP-Performance Stage 2 tune, an Akrapovic exhaust and new downpipes. The E63 on the other hand has a Gorilla Racing tune on and new downpipes to help it make 700 HP.

Weight is also a factor to keep in mind and, while the M6 has 2 less doors, it’s not lighter than its rival here. Actually, the kerb weights of the two show that the Bimmer is 60 kg heavier than the Merc (1,980 kg vs 1,920 kg). Who will win?
