Following a Hellcat V8 swap by Plum Floored Creations in 2017, the Dodge Durango with more than 700 horsepower has a friend from True Street Performance. The build in the following video features gray-and-red stripes over granite paintwork as well as an Air Grabber hood scoop inspired by the Challenger SRT Demon.
Described as a “masterwork of muscle” by none other than Dodge, the most powerful Durango from the factory is the SRT. Retailing at $63,245 excluding destination charger for the 2020 model year, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 in the mid-size SUV comes with 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

That’s a higher price point than the Challenger SRT Hellcat yet more affordable than the Charger SRT Hellcat. The crate engine Hellcat V8 can be had for the princely sum of $14,995, and yes, even a lowly Pentastar V6 can be swapped for the 707-hp blunderbuss.

Turning our attention back to the Durango SRT Hellcat detailed by R/T Life on YouTube, this bad boy is also gifted with red brake calipers from Brembo and an XForce performance exhaust system that scares passersby and wildlife with the slightest tap of the gas pedal. Popping up the hood reveals a rather tight fit because the blown V8 is wide, but nevertheless, those orange valve covers add a bit of color to the engine bay.

No mid mufflers, 295/45 ZR20 summer performance tires from Pirelli, and SRT leather seats round off the list of goodies, making this Hellcat-swapped Durango a rather tasty build. Driving the kids to soccer practice in a 707-horsepower utility vehicle sure sounds like fun!

In addition to the Durango SRT Hellcat, True Street Performance from Bay Shore, New York has also posted a photo of the Ram 1500 with the 707-horsepower engine. This doesn’t come as a surprise given that the Rebel TRX is right around the corner, and some people have managed to squeeze the Hellcat V8 into the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator as well.

There’s nothing better than OEM tuning done right, and unfortunately for the Durango crowd, Dodge doesn’t plan to offer the SRT Hellcat from the factory. The same can be said about Chrysler’s 300 luxury sedan, which doesn’t go higher than the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 in Australia.
