704 hp SL 63 AMG by mcchip-dkr Hits The Dyno

With news that the engine of the 2015 model year Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG has been upgraded to offer 585 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque, owners of the previous version – even with the performance package – are probably grinding their teeth and shaking their fists at Mercedes-Benz.

They shouldn't feel too bad though, as the epic M157 under the hood is one of the most easily modifiable engines out there, with the stock powerplant having enough power reserves hidden behind a restrictive stock ECU and exhaust system.

This is where aftermarket tuners come in, like the owner of the white Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG soon found out going to the chip-tuning specialists from mcchip-dkr.

As some of you are already aware, mcchip-dkr are known for reprogramming the engine control units for a huge amount of vehicles, from econoboxes to sports cars and even farm equipment vehicles.

They are also into full engine tuning though, as their supercharged Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Wagon S204 is a perfect example for that.

The SL 63 AMG R231 in the dyno video below, for example, has been upgraded to a Stage 3 tune by mcchip-dkr, and the results pretty much speak for themselves.

Instead of the standard 537 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, this white beast now outputs no less than 704 hp and 1070 Nm (789 lb ft) of torque, which makes it quite a lot more powerful than even the mighty SL 65 AMG. The only quarrel we have with the footage below is the rather poor quality of the sound, but even that doesn't detract from the fact that this is a downright moster of a car.
