The beauty of 1/2-mile drag races is that the extra touch they add compared to 1,320-foot sprints can make a huge difference and we're here to show you just such an example, one involving a Nissan GT-R and the C7 Corvette that have both gone down the tuning route.
The Godzilla example in question has turned to AMS Performance, being gifted with the Alpha 7 package. Given the fact that AMS customer cars have already crossed the 2,500 hp border, it's safe to call this 700 hp kit a streetfully restrained one.

As for the 'Vette battling the Nissan halo car, the Chevy isn't a Z06, but packs a hefty shot of nitrous, as well as using a custom cam setup.

As we mentioned above, the two engaged in a half-mile shenanigan, albeit using a standing start with the kind of human Christmas Tree.

This is where the dirty part mentioned in the title steps in, as the Nissan driver jumped the start - pay close attention to the position of the starting assistant hand at the 1:32 point and you'll understand. Sure, given the trap speed approach, the move didn't give him the edge, but it was still less than elegant.

We usually don't engage in spoiler-throwing activities, but since the outcome of the battle is the icing on this cake, we'll make an exception and mention the Godzilla guy gets trampled.

It all has to do with the mph values at the end of the race, with the hefty weight difference between the two go-fast machines playing an important role here.

Those of you who enjoy zooming in on every little detail of a drag race will be more than please by the piece of footage at the bottom of the page. For one thing, this not only shows the race using an exterior view, but also sees both velocity heroes being used as camera cars. As you can imagine, the dual-flavor soundtrack makes for a superb experience, so we're inviting you to turn up the volume for this one.
