The BMW M5 and the Mercedes-AMG GT R might be far from direct rivals and yet seeing the two duking it out in a drag race is always a reason to rejoice. Well, we've brought along just such a race, albeit one that features an F10 incarnation of the super-sedan.
To the best of our knowledge, the Affalterbach supercar came to the race in factory stock form, which meant its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 delivered 585 hp. Nevertheless, we can't say the same thing about the ex-generation M5, whose 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 had received a bit of aftermarket attention. As such, the motor allowed the driver to play with 700 ponies.
As we mentioned above, the sprinting event that hosted the battle between the massaged M5 and the Beast of the Green Hell also involved other races. And thanks to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, you'll get to see the Bimmer duking it out with all sorts of go-fast toys.
The Bavarian monster also battled another one of its kind, even though we're not aware of the other M5's tech state. However, the black car also raced a Lexus IS F and a 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate - as many of you know, the Benz is a force to be reckoned with.
And while the machines mentioned above are more or less direct competitors, you should know that the M5 also battled a Lamborghini Huracan.
Now, all this M5 talk might have you wondering how the new model handles a velocity duel. Well, earlier today, we brought you a speeding comparison involving the 2019 BMW M5 Competition and the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
Sure, the fight involved a drag race, but it also saw the two velocity behemoths fighting in terms of lap times and drifting, so you might want to check it out.
