We have now reached an awesome point where two automotive trends have overlapped, leading to spectacular high-horsepower sideways stunts.
We're talking about drifting, which is finally getting the recognition it deserves, as well as the age when supercars such as Lamborghini Gallardo or the Audi R8 are no longer in the kidney-selling price range.

As a result of this melange, there are certain drifting amateurs or pros out there who rely on these somewhat senior supercars to deliver the kind of slip angles we want to see.

Case in point, the Audi R8 in the video below. Built by HST Turbotuning, the R8 comes with a twin-turbo kit that takes the output to 700 hp. However, the car has kept its manual setup, so working the clutch is a bit of an adventure.

While the US hooning scene has been enjoying twin-turbo R8s for quite some years now, the Audi we have here is said to be the first of its kind in Austria.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows us to see the TT R8 drifting in an industrial area. The 700 hp machine's driver is the kind who gets excited when rain shows up, so the show is guaranteed.

From donuts performed on a low-grip surface to full drifts on the alleys, this R8 delivers enough stunts to keep us entertained.

As for what the future holds, the owner plans a further upgrade. To be more precise, the man is willing to take the R8 to 1,000 ponies. However, until that happens, we're inviting you to check out the sideways action behind the "play" button below.

Speaking of twin-turbo R8s gone drifting, here's what happens when such a machine is fitted with proper sideways hardware such a steering setup that offers extreme angles and a hydraulic handbrake. Oh, and let's not forget the driver, who happens to be Valentino Rossi's father.
