To be honest, I’m having a hard time choosing sides after watching this video. Both sides have pros and cons, and choosing the right answer to the question whether what this father did is “cool or fool” doesn’t come easy at all.
I mean, having your kid geared up and wearing a helmet, seating in front of you on the bike while riding around the block is one thing, but allowing a 6-year-old to actually ride the bike is a different story altogether. And by “riding” I mean steering and throttling away along the desert road on a Harley which is anything but light.
For the kid, such a ride is definitely one of the things he will most likely never forget, as he also seems to enjoy the ride quite a lot. Still trusting the youngster with riding the bike at what appears to be around the 60 mph (100 km/h) mark is a bit extreme. To some it may be that the bike is actually going a lot faster, but it’s only the illusion most GoPro cameras create.
Aside from the illegal aspect of the whole affair, the cool factor cannot be denied. 6 may indeed not be the best age for starting to ride, at least not like this, but every Rossi has to start riding one day, and being 15 is definitely too late, if you catch my drift.
