Carlex Design has stumbled upon a brand new niche: modified European pickups. Its new division called Pickup Design has just presented fresh images of its exciting new creation, the first-ever 6-wheeled Mercedes-Benz X-Class.
Recently, we presented renderings of such a creation, saying that somebody will eventually add another axle to the X-Class. However, our expectations were exceeded... and then some.

The X-Class has gone from a mild-mannered work vehicle to one that's at war with normality. Everywhere you look, and everything you see is covered in carbon fiber. While these aren't real images, we're sure the real thing will deliver.

Stating the obvious, we also want to mention that fender flares have been installed. At the front, they work with the curves of the car and a new AMG-style bumper while the back end features boxy armor riveted around an abnormal amount of wheels with Bridgestone Potenza high-performance tires. Mercedes may not make another G63 6x6, but this is just as good. No, it's better.

Like a poison dart frog advertising itself, the X-Class features a bright yellow bed liner. This draws your attention to other mods, such as the yellow brake calipers, tow hooks, roof-mounted lights, and other accessories. According to the company, this off-roader has been configured as a safety car with off-road abilities. However, it completely overshadows almost every race car we know.

No word on what's under the hood yet. Of course, we could see a modified version of the X 350 d's V6 diesel engine, cranking out more than the standard 258 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. But if you're going to take the time to add another axle, you might as well do a heart transplant too.

If/when this beast gets built, expect it to cost several times more than a base X-Class, which starts from €37,300 in Germany.
