A 5-year-old boy from Ogden, Utah, became an unlikely hero and unexpected topic of conversation when the Utah Highway Patrol revealed he’d been caught at the wheel of his parents’ SUV, on a stretch of the highway, on his way to California. He planned to buy himself a Lamborghini once there.
The story made international headlines, and for good reason. The boy had never driven before and, unlike many prodigies we’ve heard of, he had never been involved in an incident of this type before.

Once UHP troopers pulled him over, after they noticed he was doing 30 mph weaving between lanes, he came clean: he was only 5 and he’d fought with his mother because she wouldn’t buy him a Lamborghini, so he decided to drive himself to California to buy one. He only had $3 in his pocket, but he was clearly not about to let that interfere with his plans.

This blind determination to pursue his dream, as well as his obvious skills at the wheel have prompted a Lamborghini owner to offer the boy the ride of his dreams. It wasn’t at the wheel of the car, but still.

Jeremy Neves drove up to the boy’s house in his gorgeous, black matte Lamborghini Huracan, and took him for a drive with his mother. Fox 13 News Utah says that the family has also been in touch with a California business, which has promised to arrange a day at the track, where the boy will be able to actually drive the car of his dreams, a Lamborghini. He will be supervised, of course.

In a post on his Facebook, Neves explains that his gesture isn’t about rewarding bad behavior, as he’s been told his doing, but about showing this kid that pursuing your dream no matter what is important. It’s true, what he did was illegal and dangerous, but no one was hurt. And it’s important to tell children they should always fight for what they want, Neves says.

“I’m a parent!” he adds. “I understand the importance of educating our children… I just choose to include education and encouragement for the great qualities NOT JUST the bad choices!”

You can see his full explanation under the video at the bottom of the page, as well as several photos the encounter with the boy.
