578 RWHP E 55 AMG by Weistec Wants to Set Fire to a Dyno

Made from 2002 to 2007, the E 55 AMG (W211) was the fastest sedan in the Mercedes-Benz lineup during its life-cycle.

The 5.4-liter supercharged V8 under the hood was good for 476 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, but many tuners over the years managed to find various ways to increase this not exactly low horsepower figure to even more stratospheric levels.

Weistec Engineering is currently one of the most prodigious US tuning companies specialized in Mercedes-Benz and one of their packages was built specifically for the M113 ML55 engine under the E 55 AMG's hood.

In the following video you can see a Weistec-tuned E 55 doing a short run on the dyno which ends with some pretty exemplary power figures. No less than 578 rear-wheel horsepower and 810 Nm (578 lb ft) of rear-wheel torque can be read on the dyno screen.

All this was achievable with a Weistec 3.0-liter M113K supercharger, a full exhaust system, an 82mm throttle body, a Weistec cold air intake system and 91 Octane fuel. Not bad, and the supercharger whine is hair-raising, if we might add.
