Since the Essen Motor Show is coming up, we thought we'd talk about the most extreme Audi RS3 (8V) in Europe right now, MTM's 502 horsepower uber-hatch.
The project was revealed this Spring, but rather than let it sit around and collect dust, MTM lent it to all the Youtubers and tuning blogs so that they can experience the terror it delivers.
Shaving half a second off the 0 to 100 km/h spring time of a car is not impressive unless it's a hatchback that could already keep up with Porsches. But the added grunt from the 2.5-liter turbo-5 has also increased the top speed to 290 km/h. There aren't even many public stretches of road where you can try that.
And how about that exhaust sound! Thankfully, it comes with butterfly valves; otherwise little children would run home scared. The note is typical o a five-cylinder with lots of boost. You'll have to keep in mind that the RS3 is now making more than 200 horsepower per liter. The engine torque has also gone up to 650 Nm of torque between 2,250 and 5,750 rpm. Beat that with an A45 AMG!
MTM’s demonstrator vehicle has subtle styling but gives a nod to Audi design by using Nardo Gray paint. The tuner also fitted new 19-inch Nardo Edition wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
These shroud a set of 380mm MTM brake disc in the front with red calipers. The trick suspension is from KW and is needed to help put all of that power down without spinning the wheels too much. Other exterior features include a front spoiler and a rear diffuser made from real carbon fiber. MTM claims that both elements improve downforce, even though they do precious little.
Inside, MTM only gave the RS3 some new leather with a nice hexagonal pattern in the stitching. And if this amount of power in a hatchback worries you but you want a tuned 2.5 TFSI, there's also a 435 horsepower Stage I kit that you can buy for around 3,000 euros.
