Last month MINI recorded a 3.5 percent increase in sales on the US market with 6,071 units sold. Those numbers helped the British brand reach the 500,000 cars sold benchmark.
Almost 11 years after the brand was first introduced on American soil, MINI managed to reach an impressive number of cars sold and create a numerous family, proving the Americans can also go for small cars, as long as they prove themselves to be premium.

"This milestone is an incredible achievement for MINI, and we’re proud to have so many Motorers as part of the MINI family. 11 years ago, doubters said a small car could not succeed here, but MINI proved that small could be premium, fun to drive and have real character, creating a whole new segment that has grown significantly in the years since then," said Jim McDowell, Vice President – MINI USA.

Starting up in 2002, MINI sold only 24,590 in its first year over the Atlantic. 10 years later, in 2012, that number hit 66,123 showing just how much the brand managed to grow. The current line-up in the US includes models like the Hardtop, Clubman, Convertible, Countryman, Coupe, Roadster and Paceman. However, not the line-up is the most important factor for the brand's success over in America, it's the community the cars created.

“The most important contributor to MINI’s success here in the U.S. is the MINI Community. They are so passionate and engaged that we constantly ask ourselves whether a decision is in their best interest… We work hard to maintain a special relationship with the Community, delivering unique experiences, cherished memories and a true feeling of being part of a family," said McDowell.
