BMW Group announced today that the MINI Cooper S’ 50th anniversary will be celebrated at the Brands Hatch race track on June 22-23, where thousands of MINI fans will gather for live music, vehicle shows and races.
According to the German company, all the car’s generations will be represented at the MINI Festival at Brands Hatch and will “compete in a handicap race and find the sportiest MINI Cooper S from five decades”.
In addition, MINI will display several current and historical racing and rally vehicles, including the Mini that won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964 and the MINI ALL4 Racing in which Stéphane Peterhansel won the 2013 Dakar Rally.
Introduced in 1963 as a track-developed car, the Mini Cooper S became one of the most successful vehicles in motorsport history, winning several events, including the famed Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967.
