Get Rich or Die Trying - isn’t that what Curtis James Jacksons III used to say? Well, he didn’t tell it to his friends at one of those opulent parties rappers throw, but rather in his songs. Luckily nobody is passing away. However, 50 Cent is not getting the money he hoped for either. As a matter of fact, as you can see, the famous rapper has been cutting his expenses drastically.
Perhaps he did sell over 30 million albums worldwide as the estimated numbers show, but his prosperous years seem to be over. As you may have heard by now, 50 has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July. It was then reported that the rapper blamed his inability to pay his debts to expensive litigation. Before officially admitting he is broke, 50 Cent also lost a high-stake legal battle filed by a woman whose sex tape he published on the internet.
The story seems to be an ongoing mess, considering that, according to Business Insider, Jackson has recently filed a lawsuit accusing a Wall Street law firm of giving him inadequate representation during a protracted legal battle over a deal to market headphones using the rapper’s brand.
Our point is that the days when the rapper was bragging he could buy 100 Rolls-Royces if he wished to are clearly over. The image of him sitting in a Fiat 500 may be a joke he’d pull off along his protege, aspiring-R&B singer Rotimi, but it sounds more like a bittersweet symphony to us.
