Japanese carmaker Nissan has just revealed the new Pathfinder in a near production form at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. These official photos of the concept that preview a 4th generation vehicle show much more elegant lines than what we’ve grown accustomed to. You can bet your dog and five kids that the production version will arrive looking much like this when it hits the US market this fall.
Th most notable esthetic changes are the wider grille and more aerodynamic headlights and the addition of a dual-panel moonroof. The profile is remarkably similar to the new Infiniti JX, leading us to believe they are one and the same.
The most significant change over the previous generation is which stuck to its body-on-frame architecture, the upcoming model marks a return to unibody construction. Nissan is also going to come up with a new V6 and CVT, which will provide a 25 percent improvement in fuel economy.
“Nissan is in a great position today. Sales are up, market share is increasing and our dealers have a great selection of 2012 Nissan cars, trucks and SUVs in inventory,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “This new Pathfinder Concept is just the beginning of a far-reaching wave of new products on the horizon for Nissan. By the end of 2012, more than 70 percent of our sales volume will be all-new or redesigned.”
