450 HP Porsche Cayman GT4 Hits the Dyno, Sounds like a Wicked 911 Slayer

With Porsche moving on to the turbocharged 991.2 Carrera S, Zuffenhausen was prepared to donate the old Carrera S' atmospheric 3.8-liter flat-six to the Cayman GT4.
And while the GT4 gets further into Neunelfer territory than ever before, this obviously isn't enough for the aftermarket. This is where developers such as Fabspeed Motorsport come into play, with the US company having recently introduced a package that gives the GT division's Cayman a hefty output premium.

Dubbed GT450, the kit allows the boxer unit at the middle of the Cayman GT4 to deliver over 400 horses at the rear wheels, which means we can talk about approximately 450 hp at the crank. To put that into perspective, we'll mention this places the tuned Cayman GT4 in between the 911 Carrera GTS and the 911 GT3.

The aftermarket developer brags about the kit delivering over 53 whp at the top end and above 65 lb-ft of low-end torque (this means the increase sits below the top of the curve). At the same time, the package puts the mid-engined track special on a slight diet, saving 15 lbs.

The last benefit comes thanks to the titanium exhaust included in the kit, which features a valve-system that replicates the two-mode soundtrack of the factory hardware. However, as you'll be able to notice in the video below, the soundtrack is considerably meaner.

The kit also includes a performance intake plenum and a custom throttle body, while a Cobb AccesPort toy will let you go through the various ECU settings.

Fabspeed Motorsport's Porsche Cayman GT450 package can be yours for $8,295 and these people were so committed to their job that one of their technicians manually feeds the Porsche with cold air during the dyno run (check out the clip and you'll understand). Then again, owners who choose to buy a GT4 and also modify it aren't something you see on a daily basis, right?
