Much of the world usually associates the legendary “Tour de France” with cycling's most important racing event alongside the “Giro d'Italia” and the “Vuelta a España.” For automobile fans in general and Ferrari enthusiasts in particular, Tour de France also has a four-wheeled meaning.
The French automobile race was a regular fixture in the European calendar for an exceptionally long time, being held mostly annually between 1899 and 1986.
As far as Ferrari tifosi are concerned, the Ferrari F12berlinetta probably became complete once the Prancing Horse revealed the F12tdf circuit-focused special edition back in 2015. The limited series was unveiled as a nod across time to Ferrari’s crop of French wins with the 250 model between 1956 and 1964.
Although it could be labeled as mostly relevant to Old Continent racing aficionados, the F12tdf was thoroughly appreciated (especially for its collectible value) across the Atlantic as well. And huge names are also included among F12tdf owners, such as Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Team Penske owner Roger Penske.
His own example of the 799-unit limited series has been deemed as a main attraction of the Steve Todhunter Collection at the upcoming Mecum Auctions Glendale, Arizona event set to take place March 18-20.
Originally owned by the former professional racing driver turned businessman and entrepreneur, the Rosso Corsa (with a red/black interior) F12tdf has been driven just 449 miles.
With the Prancing Horse logo up front, this is a car that speaks to both mind and soul. The numbers paint a successful story of high performance, as the 6.3-liter V12 was massaged to a total of 769 hp at 8,500 rpm and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm).
Thanks also to the quick shifts of the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the supercar is capable of sprinting to 60 mph (96 kph) in less than three seconds and exceed the 210-mph (338-kph) mark. And as far as the spirit is concerned, does anyone need more than a Rosso Corsa exterior and a lot of carbon fiber tidbits?!
