37-Foot Aston Martin Designed Speed Boat to Be Unveiled in September

A 37-foot speedboat designed by Aston Martin is currently under development, the British sportscar maker has revealed at the company’s headquarters in Warwickshire recently. The hull might not be ready in time to join the specially created DB10 hero car used in the new James Bond Spectre movie, but reports are we might see future 007 installments that use it.

We might not see any aspirated V8 engines adapted for water drifting in the first model, but the Aston Martin design specifics will be easily observed in the new vessel.

The AM37 is the result of a collaboration between the British luxury automaker and Mulder Design, according to Motorboat & Yachting. Apparently, the idea was put to paper in June last year and belongs to Louis Paul Steinberg, a classic Aston Martin owner himself and the founder of Quintessence Yachts.

The first prototype is in the works and will most likely make its first public appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. All of the engine options (for the time being) will be twin Mercury units, ranging from 370 horsepower to 662 horsepower, with the last able to reach 60 knots.

That’s for future hulls, however, since the AM37 we’re about to see this Autumn comes fitted with twin 570hp petrol engines, capable of a top speed of 50 knots.

As we said, the high-end design is what will stand out, apparently. “The rear of the boat is the most recognizable connection with Aston Martin. It takes inspiration from Aston Martin models that the world hasn’t seen yet,” Marek Reichman, Design Director at Aston Martin, told the source.

Until further details are released, we’re going to have to settle for a couple of renderings and the video below.
