In case you remember the Honda Civic Type R interactive video...Wait, what? Of course you remember that, you destroyed the R key on your keyboard switching between good and evil. Anyway, get ready for this: the new Type R will race in the British Touring Car Championship.
Honda Yuasa Racing will officially kick-ass during the 2015 Dunlop BTCC after announcing that they have been working with Honda UK to develop a competition-spec Civic Type R. As we would expect, the race-spec Type R is based on the production version recently unveiled by Honda and will develop 355 HP and 400 Nm of torque.

The stock Honda Civic Type R already managed to lap the Nurburgring in 7:50.63 so the track-oriented versions will no doubt be even more capable on the tarmac. In fact, by building on the existing road car coming straight from Honda’s factory in Swindon, Yuasa Racing team only had to make sure that there’s enough downforce, less drag and more effective air flow management.

“We cannot wait for the new season to start. Our car for 2015 is going to win races. The shape of the new road going Civic Type R has allowed the team to build on the design and take it forward to be a championship winning car,” said Barry Plowman, technical director at Honda Yuasa Racing.

You can’t blame them for being enthusiastic, especially after the driver line-up made of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal was kept the same for the upcoming season, for the sixth consecutive year.
