350 HP Focus RS500 Teased via Dedicated Website

The hot hatches world is about to be rocked from its ground. In fact the whole performance vehicle segment should feel the effect of the “powerquake”, as the Ford Focus RS 500 is scheduled to escape the nuthouse next week.

The 350 hp version of the Focus RS will head straight to a dedicated website that Ford has launched to tease the car. If you browse it now, you’ll see a relaxed day countdown (no hours, minutes...milliseconds marketing, at least not yet) and a teaser video showing the car being "driven by a professional driver on a private test track facility”.

The video, probably shot at Ford’s 4.3 kilometer long Belgian Lommel-based test center, is more of an audio experience, offering us a turbocharged 2.5 liter and sub-understeer symphony. Montune is responsible for a good part of the fun, as rumors indicate that the car’s powerplant has been whipped by the company.

The car, formerly known as the Focus RS Clubsport (that’s one dead rumor), is expected to feature lightweight seats, a tweaked version of the revoknuckle suspension and new tires. The last two should form a wonder couple (something like Mr & Mrs Smith) in order to translate the engines’s power to the road without sending the car to a three-hugging session.

After all, just a little bit more horsepower and the Ford Focus RS500 would feature double the amount of power which was longtime believed to be the maximum limit for a front wheel vehicle. Speaking of that, those of you who can’t wait until Wednesday, when the car breaks loose on the web, or just feel like humiliating proper sports cars with their hatches can just purchase an “average” 300 hp RS and have a tuner babysit it... 401 horsepower guarantee.

P.S. : As Ford announced that it plans to unite its U.S. and European performance divisions last month, we hope that the Focus RS500 will make it stateside.
