300 HP Mid-Engined Hyundai Veloster Turbo Is a Korean Clio V6

Our friends at Blood Type Racing Inc. have sent out word that somebody is testing a mid-engined Hyundai Veloster Turbo. This may or may not be a production model, but there can be no question that it's the most interesting thing to come out of Korea since SPY and the Gangnam Style dance.

Changes include a much wider body, air intakes down the side and 2-door configuration instead of a 3-door one which the Veloster normally has.

For true hot hatch fanatics, this project will remind them of the Clio V6, which Renault built while its B-segment car was in its second generation. Instead of having a 2-liter under the bonnet, a 3-liter V6 engine was mounted in the place of the rear seats.

Could Hyundai be preparing a similar limited-edition model for the road? It's very likely, especially since in 2014, they unveiled the mid-engined Veloster "Midship" concept, which you can check out in the photo gallery below. It didn't have a V6, but a 2-liter turbo making 300 horsepower.

Built by the WRC team, it also featured lighter aluminum suspension as well as a strengthened chassis. Bright livery, a massive rear wing and Veyron-like rear engine decking made for quite a spectacular view.

Editor's note: It's amazing how we're going from rumors about the Veloster's demise to ones that suggest a mid-engined version is being built.
