30% More Visitors at the Isle of Man TT over 2010 Figures

More good news come form the world's most extreme motorcycle racing site, the Isle of Man: a survey from the Government Treasury has showed a significant increase in the economic contribution the Tourist Trophy makes to the island's economy.

Deconstructing this rather vague (if heartening) concept, the Treasury analysts have compared the economic figures of the past three years and the result was even happier. The 2013 Isle of Man TT brought almost 40,000 (39,224) visitors, a hefty 27% bigger number than what the 2010 race brought (30,787).

These guys spent 19 million pounds ($30.225 or €22.63 mil) in 2010, but the figures went as high as 26.2 million pounds ($41.678 or €31.20 mil) this year, with an average of 668 pounds spent by each visitor, compared to 620 in 2010.

According to the official Isle of Man TT website, "The net cost of the TT Races to the Government’s Department of Economic Development, once commercial revenues and income have been offset against costs, is £2,617,210 ($4.163 or €3.117 mil). Costs include race administration, course set up costs, grandstand and paddock security, IT, communications, marshaling, medical cover including the air med service, marketing and administration, prize fund and appearance fees."
