A VW Polo with the engine from a Golf GTI? It shouldn't be done! Except Volkswagen actually did it because it wanted to celebrate its return to the WRC.
And so 2,500 Polos were given the 220 PS engine that powers the Golf 7 GTI, all in the interest of poweeeeer.
But why settle for less when you can have more. And German tuner ABT is all about poweeer and more. And so, for this year's Essen Motor Show, they tuned the 220 PS Polo R WRC Street until it produced 290 PS. A 3-door version of the super-hot Polo has been fitted with 18-inch DR alloy wheels.
To be honest, the update is not in the least bit surprsing, since this is exactly what ABT Sportsline has to offer for any Golf 7 GTI. But, a 290 PS Polo is still cool.
