260 HP Peugeot RCZ R Spotted Ahead of Goodwood Debut

For a while now, Peugeot's hotter cars had been stuck in output at the 200 hp mark, where the 1.6 THP loses its punch. Cars like the DS3 Racing and the 207 GTi were impressive, but never managed to offer class-leading performance.

At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Peugeot presented the 260 hp RCZ R as a concept car with the promise to bring it into production. The French carmaker promised us another debut at the Goodwood Festival of speed and we expected a dynamic debut, but it seems the production version is ready.

This has been spotted by autojorunal.fr ahead of its Goodwood debut, and they say the RCZ R will go on sale before the end of the year.

So what can we expect from this car? Honestly not that much, since the 200 hp version of the RCZ needs 7.6 seconds to get to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph). With numbers like that, we don't expect the R to be a rival for the Scirocco R's 5.8 seconds.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
