It was only a matter of time until we got to hear about a small-displacement Triumph being readied for the Asian market. It's all so clear that the motorcycle industry is taking a firm step towards bikes with smaller, more economical engines.. and we kind of like this for so many reasons.
The new bike is expected to be a parallel-twin, or so does Rudhy Siswanto, Indonesian Triumph distributor in Indonesia makes us believe. Even more, we might get to see some scaled-down Speed Triple exploits on their way for the 2014 model. The small Triumph will be manufactured in India, at the planned new facility in Narasapur.

This move is clearly aimed to taking a bite from the market the KTM 200 Duke, Kawasaki Ninja 250R and Honda CBR250R share in the region. With the right price, the Triumph could even dare show teeth at the new KTM 390 Duke, given the history of the British brand.

With no word yet as to whether the new small Triumph will make it to the European or North-American markets, we would definitely expect such a bike selling in dealerships around the world and even making it big. And with Triumph aiming to increase their total bike production ten-fold once the new Indian plant is fully functional, we might have made just the right prediction.
