The Lamborghini Huracan is one of the most popular platforms of the drag racing realm, with the V10 supercar having been taken all the way to 3,000 horsepower. Most setups of the kind required the dual-clutch transmission of the Raging Bull to be axed, in favor of a sequential setup that can hold such outputs. However, we can now talk about a dual-clutch setup that can take the said abuse.
To be more precise, a DCT incarnation of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante has recently set a half-mile record, with the Italian supercar going all the way to 242 mph (note that the absolute record, which comes from a sequential incarnation of the machine, sits in the 259 mph arena).
We're talking about a wet clutch setup coming from Underground Racing, the aftermarket developers behind the entire build.
"This Huracan DCT gearbox has its internals upgraded with the Underground Racing EMCO billet gear set. The UR DCT wet clutch used was developed by Underground Racing and the manufacture working extensively together to create a clutch that has a stock-like driveability and the ability to hold this incredible power," the specialist explains.
UGR also notes that the V10 motor found at the center of the beast relies on a cast aluminum block, with the unit sitting north of 10,000 rpm when it crossed the 1/2-mile mark. The company explains that the engine delivers 2,500 hp in the said setup, with no slip from the clutches.
As usual with such projects, the adventure doesn't stop here. As such, the developer promised the Huracan would return soon, packing its billet aluminum block, which will allow for even more power to be delivered and should lead to even higher trap speeds.
No video of the run has shown up yet, but you can check out the record-setting Lamborghini Huracan Performante below.
