230 HP Mega-Kart Drag Races Two 1,000 Plus HP Cars and Mega-Wins

Unless you're willing to go as far as the Flinstones, it doesn't really get any more basic than this Mega-Kart. It's a racing seat on a barebones chassis with an engine at the rear and four tiny wheels pushed to the corners.

You need balls of steel to get in that Sparco seat, but you also have to muster a visceral hate towards your spinal cord, as the kart seems to have minimal suspension system - like most karts do. And, anyway, the suspension is there to make sure the wheels stay in contact with the asphalt for as long as possible, and not to protect your insides.

Behind the seat is a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade engine developing 230 hp and making a hell of a noise while at it. The short exhaust gallery and the erect tailpipe help as well.

The seat is literally just two inches away from the tarmac and I can only imagine the driver's sphincters don't really relax for one single minute during a race. And how could they, when this kart is able to hit over 300 km/h (186 mph)?

Its complete stats are as follows: 0-100 km/h acceleration (0-62 mph) takes 2.4 seconds, 1/4 of a mile takes just 9.1 seconds and the top speed is rated at 320 km/h (199 mph). No disrespect to any motorcycle riders, but doing 320 km/h in this thing takes a lot more nerve than doing it on two wheels.

That's precisely why we also feel a shout-out to the driver is in order, and his name is Sebastian Scholz. Good job, Sebastian, but find yourself a real car and stop doing this - you're of much more use to your kids in one piece.

The races? Who really cares? The Mega-Kart goes against a 1,080 hp Audi S4 and a 9ff TR 1300 (yes, that last part stands for hp) from a rolling start and since we don't have official data, we're left guessing. But he's a winner to us regardless of the result, just by doing something so exhilarating that makes even our lives seem more interesting after watching it.
