We know what you’re thinking: how can VW sell more cars each year, all their vehicles are the same? But they can, and they have - 2.29 million of them in the first five months of 2012, which is a 9.3 perncet increase over the figures recorded in the same five moths of 2011.
“The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand achieved a very respectable performance on markets worldwide in May. However, the situation on markets in Western Europe remains tense”, Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, commented.

But only outside of Europe did they manage to really grow. While in the Asia-Pacific region they delivered 14.8 percent more cars for the period to May 2012 (909,100 units compared to 792,10), China was the main market for VW and gobbled up 819,300 (about 105,100 units or +14.7 percent more than last year)

Deliveries by Volkswagen Passenger Cars in the North America region for the period January to May grew 24.4 percent to 242,100 (194,600 last year) vehicles.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
